Care Home Elevator

You arrive at the care home to visit, maybe it’s an assisted living facility or palliative care ward. Step into the elevator and the doors close.

You glance around and realize that everyone in the elevator is suddenly your community. You all know why you’re here. Unspoken things are said with a nod, a smile, a greeting that you all know is needed, welcomed and is supportive.

Everyone in the elevator knows the same things.
This hard.
This is messy.
This takes time.
Everything is uncertainty now.
We don’t know tomorrow, just like our ‘patient’ doesn’t know tomorrow.

The doors open and you click ‘OK’ in your mind, and you each go make someone’s day a little easier.
