A Paper Planner. Good for you!
Paper planners. Good. But mostly for you.
I did a DuckDuckGo search for ‘end of life planner’ and found pages upon pages of paper planner search results.
We have mostly evolved from bulky photo albums to facebook or similar, right? So, how does putting the most important information about you, your care, and your very personal wishes on paper, make any sense? How will that info be shared to those who need to see it? Print copies? Scan to PDF, upload and send as email attachment? (Note: Email is just about the most insecure way to send info)
And, what about the people who have committed to looking after your details, your care decisions and your wishes when you no longer can? Will that End of Life paper planner be readily available to all involved? Might it get wet? Could it be misplaced?
Simplify Caring App was designed while we were ‘looking after the details‘ of dementia affected parents complicated by epics such as a broken femur, UTI’s, lost dental appliance, eye appointments with no wheelchair access, cognitive assessments, ‘mini’ strokes… We were three siblings coordinating care for parents who lived in another part of the country from us. We used various online wikis and spreadsheets and learned from that. Then we and built and released Simplify Caring App this winter.
It works. It worked for us. All documentation, appointments, notes and vital contacts info in one place. Secure and shared fully with those on your team that you’ve chosen. Start your new year, organized!
